Help & frequently asked questions
Measure how much light reaches your plant and see which plants will thrive there — on your iPhone, with no account and no internet connection.
A phone camera is not a laboratory lux meter. The app reads the camera's automatic exposure and converts it to lux, the way a photographer's light meter works. Expect the number to be within the right band, not exact to the last hundred lux. That is also why the app leads with the band — it is the decision you actually make — and shows the number as an approximation.
A plant's leaves face the light. With the phone lying where the plant stands, screen up towards the window, the front camera sees what the leaves see.
No. The camera runs only so that its exposure can settle; the app reads three numbers — aperture, shutter time and ISO — and nothing else. No image is kept or sent, and the camera switches off as soon as you leave the app.
The daily light integral is the total light a spot receives over a day, in mol/m². Grow guides use it because a plant cares about the whole day, not a single moment. Enter how many hours the spot gets light and the app does the rest. Choose Grow light when measuring under an LED lamp: its spectrum gives fewer usable photons per lux than daylight.
Because the light does. A spot can go from medium to bright indirect when the sun comes round. Saved spots keep every reading and rank the spot by its brightest one, so a single cloudy afternoon does not rule out a good window.
Measuring, the light band and the plants that suit it. Unlocking adds saved spots, the daily light integral and grow light mode. It is a one-time purchase, not a subscription.
